"At the dawn of its existence, the Witch House was positioned as an occult-oriented genre of electronic music, in which horror movie samples were often used, and visual accompaniment usually involved materials that somehow related to the Western horror culture. It is worth noting that the witch house, contrary to frequent misconceptions, is not directly related to religion in general and Satanism in particular, in contrast, for example, from some branches of the Black Metal genre. Occult elements are used rather for aesthetic reasons, to attract attention and emphasize the general gloom of the genre. To change the speed or pitch of the voice, the Pitch effect was used, in the drums we used minimalistic rhythm machines like the Roland TR-808, and the bass was created using the Hoover synthesizer and its analogs, which together made the sound slow and viscous due to which the witch House was sometimes confused with genres such as Vaporwave and Drone Ambient. You can also notice that Witch House is a kind of industrial version of Electro Goth music. Among the many compositions, one can often hear remixes of popular songs, both modern and hits of the 80s and 90s, or heavily processed samples and acapella from them.
