Gavotte in G Major (Originally Gavotte in D Major) is a short piece for piano that has been transcribed for violin and become a standard piece in the student repertoire. François-Joseph Gossec was a French Classical era composer taught by the great Baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. He was quite famous in his time as a composer of symphonies, operas, and chamber works. This piece is also well known due to its use in several Warner Brothers cartoons.
