Want to be a better hip-hop dancer? Why not take lessons from a choreographer to the stars? In this video, Randy R.C. Connor, who has worked with Britney Spears, P. Diddy, Prince, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, and Jay-Z, teaches you how to dance like Usher.

My name is Randy R.C. Connor, choreographer to the stars. I've worked with Britney Spears, P. Diddy Combs, Prince, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z. We're gonna just break down some moves, that you can use at the club, at the parties, at home, in your bathroom -- just have fun guys, so let's get started. C'mon! Hey guys. Now this is one of my favorite routines. We're going to learn how to dance like Usher. Usher's an inspiration to us all. So, here's a routine guys so when you go out you can party with the rest of the crew and be comfortable. So, step with me. We're going to just learn a few simple step guys that's going to build your confidence up so come on, let's join in. 5, 6, 7, 8, step 1 and 2. Yeah? 3, 4, step 5, 6, 7, 8. Okay? So. Let's take it from the stop. Slow. We have step 1 and 2 so make sure you open and your arm comes out on 2. Yeah? 3, 4 you bring your knee in. 3, 4, and you come in 5, 6. Okay? You're stepping 7 you're turning your closed and you're opening and popping out on 8. Your legs and your arms your legs open and your arm goes up at the same time. Okay? So let's just take that really slow. Okay? SO we have 1 and 2 push open 2 now 3 4 together 5 6 step 7 and 8. Excellent, moving on. From 8 we're going back 1 and open 2 yes? Nice. 3 okay this is really strong guys. The arm is here, straight line. It's all about lines it's all about being clean as a dancer. This hand is here and this hand is behind your back. Okay? That's the line. So this is 2 and is here so this is a quick count because we're going 2 and, and comes to the side, 3 comes down so it's really clean it's very isolated. Okay? So you want to look as clean as possible. So we're going to take it from 8 and we're going to go back step by step. So we're going 1, and open 2, we're going 3 and 4. Excellent. So let's just mark that much from the top really slow. 5, 6, 7, slow 8. We have 1 and 2, 3, 4, close 5, 6, step 7, and 8. Back 1 and open 2 cross 3 and 4. Excellent moving on. We have 5 and 6. Great. okay so now this, here, from 4 what we're doing is we're kind of grooving and the arm is kind of waving so we're going 5 and 6. Okay. So the arm and the leg the leg extends and the arm comes together. 5 and 6 and what we're doing is coming out of it and we're going cross step 7 and up 8. Yeah? Groove, step, groove, step. Alright? That's it guys. So let's mark it from the top, alright? let's have some fun. 5, 6, 7, 8, 1 and 2, yeah? 3, 4, together 5, 6, 7, and 8. 1 and 2, yeah? 3 and 4. 5, 6, 7, and 8. And 1, 2, 3 and 4, there you are. Let's try that with some music. Always remember guys, be confident. And most of all be yourself. Come on. Here we go guys. 5, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 2, good. 5, groove, groove, nice. So keep in mind you can always change up the tempo. The count stays the same but the rhythm you can always change it around, alright? To fit the music. So let's try that again. Alright here we go from the top. 5, 6, 7, 8. 2, 4, 6, 8. Back, good. 2, 4, groove, groove, yes, nice. Excellent. I hope you enjoyed that.
