Lo-fi (short for low-fidelity) is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections of a recording or performance are audible, sometimes as a deliberate aesthetic choice.

Lo-fi music has this characteristic of lightness and simplicity, and because it is largely free of vocals, it has been much sought after to help maintain focus at home, while working at home-office, or even for relax while reading a book or waiting for sleep to come. And despite the lo-fi hip hop style being super hot, it lacks the aggressiveness, intense percussiveness and sub-bass of traditional hip hop, keeping the slower pace with the so-called "lo-fi beats".
